Qualifications and Experience

I have extensive experience working in and with school districts across Michigan. For 25 years I have served as a trusted advisor to schools for accounting, finance and construction. During that period I was also employed by two districts in various financial capacities. I believe this experience uniquely qualifies me to serve on the Board and I am confident I have added value to the Board through my service to date. My resume includes the following:

  • • 2007-present - Fifth Third Securities, Inc., East Lansing - Public Finance Investment Banker primarily serving Michigan school districts. I focus on the marketing and sale of bond issues for construction programs or refunding bond issues sold to reduce the cost of previously issued bonds.
  • • 2003-07 - UBS Securities, Lansing - Public Finance Investment Banker, provided same services to schools as at Fifth Third.
  • • 2001-03 - French Associates, Inc. - Rochester, MI - Director of Business Development - responsible for securing K-12 architectural work for a medium-sized architectural firm specializing in school design. Also advised clients on a variety of construction related issues.
  • • 1995-2001 - Clarkston Community Schools - Clarkston, MI - Director of Business Services - responsible for all accounting, budgeting, payroll, insurance, negotiations and purchasing for a district with an enrollment of approximately 8,000 students. Managed multiple budgets exceeding $100,000,000 annually. Also responsible for $125,000,000 of new construction and renovations.
  • • 1988-1995 - Rochester Community Schools - Rochester, MI - Budget Supervisor and Controller - responsible for budgets, accounting, insurance for a district of 12,000 students and budgets exceeding $100,000,000.
  • • 1985-88 - Plante & Moran - Mt Clemens, MI - Auditor - provided auditing and consulting services to a variety of clients with a specific focus on K-12 and municipal clients.
